St. Ambrose Cheer & Dance is headed to Ypsilanti, Mich. to compete at the NAIA National Championship on March 10th and 11th. Both teams earned bids to Nationals by winning their regional - cheer won the southwest qualifier, and dance won the northeast qualifier.
Dance teams will begin the competition with the preliminary round starting at 3 p.m. (central) on Friday. The Bees are scheduled to perform at 4:10 (CST) p.m. The cheer competition is scheduled to begin at 5:30 (CST) p.m. with SAU scheduled to take the mat at 7:20 (CST) p.m. The final round of competition will begin Saturday morning with dance at 8 a.m. central time followed by cheer at noon.
The St. Ambrose dance team comes into the championship with the highest average score in the NAIA. They have placed first in five competitions this season. The Bees have captured a dance title twice before - in 2018 & 2021.
SAU cheer comes to the championship with the second-best average score, just behind Xavier (La.). They have placed first in all six competitions this season. The Bees will look to capture a first title in cheer after placing third in 2022 and taking the runner-up spot in 2021.
