Leading their respective teams to perfect league marks during the seven-day period ending Sept. 11 have earned Olivet Nazarene University's Halle Nicholas (Warren, Mich.) and Brianna Cannon (San Diego, Calif.) and St. Ambrose University's Hannah Sondag (Webster Groves, Mo.) Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Sondag had both a big and busy week for St. Ambrose in claiming CCAC Setter of the Week accord. She led the Fighting Bees to a 5-1 record and a 2-0 conference mark over the seven-day period with her 5.65 assists and 2.0 digs per set. The senior also had 11 aces, which averaged out to just over one-half ace per set over her 20 sets played.
Working in a 6-2 offense, Sondag recorded no less than 13 assists in any one set topped by her 26 in a four-set victory over Goshen College (Ind.) on Friday. She also had 20-plus assist matches against Indiana South Bend (23) on Thursday and Indiana University Southeast (20) on Saturday.
The 5-1 week upped St. Ambrose's overall record to 10-3. In the league, the Fighting Bees are one of only two teams with a perfect 3-0 mark.
