North Scott Community School District Superintendent Joe Stutting recently confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19, according to KWQC.

According to a press release, Stutting attended an outdoor event the weekend of Aug. 22 and was informed of the exposure during the week.

Stutting told KWQC that he got the test results on Saturday, Aug. 29, and that he had been quarantined since Thursday, Aug. 27.

The school district addressed Stutting’s positive COVID-19 test along with other information in relation to the district.

“Throughout this past week we have had six cases of staff members and a number of students requiring quarantine from exposure outside the school setting,” said the press release.

On the same day that Stutting got his test results, high school administration and the Scott County Health Department conducted contact tracing in an effort to identify students that could have possibly been exposed to infection. The tracing found that an additional 13 students, as well as the sophomore football team, may have been exposed to the virus and will have to be quarantined.

The district is urging students and families to help contain the spread of COVID-19 in an effort to keep in-person classes and student activities possible.

“Just as we are following the health department recommendation inside of school, we are encouraging everyone to do these same things outside of school,” the press release from the district stated. “We are all in this together. We can not let this virus and these challenges define us as a community. We all need to do what we can to keep schools going.”
