Samson, Warner win KCAC POTW honors

St. Ambrose University Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

SAU swept the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) women's lacrosse Player of the Week awards with Maggie Samson earning Defensive Player of the Week and Audrey Warner nabbing Offensive Player of the Week honors. St. Ambrose is off to a 3-0 start.

Samson, the 2021 Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the KCAC, had a tremendous game against (RV) Concordia on Sunday. Samson made 17 saves against (RV) Concordia, with 15 coming in the first half. Four of those saves were on free-position shots. In the season opener for the Bees, Samson made five saves against DIII University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and didn't allow a goal in 36 minutes against Culver-Stockton College on Saturday.

Warner got off to a hot start this season, scoring a game-high seven goals in the SAU opener against DIII University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and also added an assist. Warner scored three times in the win over Culver-Stockton, and scored once with two assists against (RV) Concordia for a total of 14 points in three games. Warner leads the team with 11 goals, won 11 draws in the three games, and went 4-5 on free-position attempts.
