City offices closed Monday (Sept. 6); service changes announced

City of Muscatine recently issued the following announcement on August 31.

City of Muscatine offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, for Labor Day. The City reminds residents that there will be several service changes due to the holiday closure.

MuscaBus, Muscatine’s Public Transit system, will not offer bus service on Monday, Sept. 6. The service normally does not operate on Sundays. Normal service will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7. For more information visit the TRANSIT page on the City of Muscatine website or call 563-263-8152.

The Musser Public Library and HNI Community Center will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 5, and Monday, Sept. 6. The library will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 7, (Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m-2 p.m.; Sunday 12-4 p.m.). The Muscatine Art Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, and will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 7, (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 1-5 p.m.). For more information, visit the ART CENTER website or call 563-263-8282.

The Muscatine Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, and will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 7 (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with last loan on scales at 3:15 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. with last load on scale at 11:45 a.m.) For more information, visit the SOLID WASTE DIVISION page on the City of Muscatine website or call 563-263-9689.

The Compost Facility will be open 12-6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6. Compost Facility hours are Sunday-Friday 12-6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information about the facility, visit COMPOST SITE on the City of Muscatine website.

There will be no refuse, yard waste, or curbside recycling collections on Monday, Sept. 7. There will also not be any Bulky Waste Collection on Monday, Sept. 6 or Tuesday, Sept. 7.   • REFUSE COLLECTION - There will be no curbside refuse or yard waste collection on Monday, Sept. 6. Residents on the Monday route will have their refuse collected on Tuesday (Sept. 7), along with residents on the regular Tuesday route. There will be no change for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday’s refuse collection routes.

  • RECYCLING COLLECTION - There will be no curbside recycling collection on Monday, Sept. 7. Curbside recycling collection on the Week “A” route will be pushed back one day: Monday’s route will be picked up on Tuesday; Tuesday’s route on Wednesday; Wednesday’s route on Thursday; Thursday’s route on Friday; and, Friday’s route on Saturday.
 The Muscatine Fire Department and Muscatine Police Department will be staffed, and the Department of Public Works will have staff on-call. For non-emergency issues during City office closures, please call 563-264-1550, Public Safety at 563-263-9922, or Public Works at 563-263-8933. In the case of an emergency, always call 911.

The Muscatine Aquatic Center at Weed Park will be open September 4-6 from 12-6 p.m., weather permitting. This is the final weekend of the summer season for the Aquatic Center. The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course will be open throughout the Labor Day weekend. Please call the Clubhouse at 563-263-4735 to book a tee time. You can also visit the GOLF page on the City of Muscatine website.
