Eastern Iowa Community College issued the following announcement on July 13.
As our business environment continues to innovate, the need for skilled supply chain management professionals grows with it. Increased globalization and technological advancements are driving the need for supply chain and logistics professionals across all industries, as businesses around the world look for new ways to enter markets, reduce their costs and increase productivity.
Employers now, more than ever, are interested in hiring supply chain and logistics professionals who can manage these ever-evolving changes. The great news is Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) offers an entirely online Supply Chain and Logistics program, perfect for those wishing to enter this growing field or move up within their existing company. Students learn highly sought-after skills transferrable across numerous industry types, preparing them for a number of career opportunities both locally or nationwide.

EICC offers students a number of options when it comes to the supply chain and logistics area. With an Associate’s Degree, Diploma and two different Certifications, it’s the perfect path for career advancement.
- Supply Chain and Logistics, Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree: A 64 credit hour program designed for individuals wishing to enter the job market with the skills to perform a variety of job functions in the logistics and supply chain field.
- Supply Chain and Logistics, Diploma: A 40 credit hour award that incorporates both certifications in Inventory Control and Logistics and Transportation and ladders into the Supply Chain and Logistics, AAS degree. The diploma provides critical thinking skills necessary for career advancement in the field.
- Inventory Control, Certificate: A 25 credit hour award that ladders into the Supply Chain and Logistics, Diploma. This certificate introduces the student to skills specific to inventory control management and provides critical thinking skills necessary for career advancement in the field.
- Logistics and Transportation, Certificate: A 25 credit hour award that ladders into the Supply Chain and Logistics, Diploma. This award provides a broad overview of transportation while building the foundation of skills for entry into the field of logistics and critical thinking skills necessary for career advancement in the field.
U.S. News & World Report ranked logistician number 17/30 on their 2020 Best Business Jobs list, based on statistics generated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:
- The median annual wage for logisticians was $76,270 in May 2020
- Employment is projected to grow 4 percent from 2019 to 2029
- Logisticians boast a 1.6% unemployment rate
Those attending the information session will have the opportunity to meet with instructors, learn more about the program, job opportunities, admissions, financial aid and more. Participants are encouraged to ask questions throughout the session.
