Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st district, shared her insights on recent legislative developments through a series of tweets on June 17, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 12:22 PM UTC, Miller-Meeks described "The One Big Beautiful Bill is a historic investment in America’s national security. From securing the border to boosting military readiness, it ensures our nation remains safe, strong, and prepared. As a 24-year Army veteran, I take that mission personally."
Later that day at 4:14 PM UTC, she reported on a meeting with local leaders: "Had a great meeting with the Greater Burlington Partnership and leaders from across Southeast Iowa to discuss expanding access to natural gas and the opportunities it creates. Business expansion and recruitment require dependable energy generation and delivery."
At 5:22 PM UTC, Miller-Meeks expressed concerns about taxation affecting family farms in Iowa. She stated that "In Iowa, farming is a family business passed down through generations. But the death tax threatens that tradition. The One Big Beautiful Bill protects family farms and the legacy they represent."
Mariannette Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021.
