The House of Representatives has passed President Trump's One Big, Beautiful Bill. This legislation aims to secure the border, reduce taxes, and restore integrity to institutions. Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), an Army veteran and physician, commented on the bill's passage.

"Today, the House delivered a major victory for working Americans and the future of our country. By passing President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, we’re securing the border, removing illegal immigrants from Medicaid, and making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent—preventing the largest tax hike in American history," said Dr. Miller-Meeks. "As a former small business owner and Army veteran, I know what’s at stake. This bill protects Iowa families, seniors, and small businesses while strengthening Medicaid for the vulnerable—not for those who can work and choose not to. I’m especially proud that my two bills to improve Medicaid integrity and expand access to pediatric care were included. Today’s vote is a win for Iowa and for every American who believes in work, responsibility, and a government that serves its people, not the other way around."

The bill includes several key measures:

1. Prevents what is described as the largest tax hike in American history by making permanent the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

2. Secures borders through additional funding for construction of fences and increased ICE agents.

3. Protects Medicaid by ending coverage for illegal immigrants and non-disabled adults who do not work.

Miller-Meeks highlighted her legislative contributions within this bill:

- The Medicaid Program Improvement Act aims to verify addresses more accurately to reduce errors in enrollment.

- The Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act focuses on streamlining approvals for out-of-state pediatric specialists.
