Today, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted in favor of H.R. 28, known as the Protection of Women and Girls Sports Act of 2025. The legislation aims to prevent biological males from participating in women's sports, with the intent to maintain fairness for female athletes.
"For years, the radical left has waged an all-out assault on women’s sports and spaces," said Miller-Meeks. "I will not stand by while they undermine the integrity of female athletics. Our daughters deserve a fair and level playing field, and this bill ensures they get it. I look forward to its swift passage in the Senate and being signed into law by President Trump."
The act seeks to amend the Education Amendments of 1972 by stipulating that athletic participation should be determined based on reproductive biology and genetics at birth. The bill also includes provisions for studying the impact of male participation on female athletes' psychological and social well-being.
Originally introduced in the 118th Congress by Representative Greg Steube, with Miller-Meeks as an original cosponsor, the bill passed in the House with a vote tally of 219-203. All opposing votes came from Democrats.
