Yesterday, the House passed Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D. (IA-01) bipartisan Medicaid Program Improvement Act. This legislation aims to improve the accuracy and reliability of address information for Medicaid beneficiaries, ensuring seamless access to healthcare services for millions of Americans.
“House passage of the Medicaid Program Improvement Act is a significant victory for individuals who rely on Medicaid for their health care,” said Congresswoman Miller-Meeks. “By improving the processes for verifying and updating address information, we are safeguarding program integrity and ensuring that beneficiaries receive the uninterrupted care they need. I thank my colleagues for their support in advancing this crucial legislation.”
The Medicaid Program Improvement Act addresses a critical issue: outdated or inaccurate address information can cause beneficiaries to be enrolled in multiple state Medicaid programs, disrupting their access to essential healthcare services. This legislation amends Title XIX of the Social Security Act, mandating that state Medicaid programs implement a regular process for verifying and updating beneficiary address information. By doing so, it ensures that individuals maintain their eligibility for services without unnecessary interruptions, providing vital support to those who rely on these programs.
