SAU Results

St. Ambrose had 11 All-American finishes at the NAIA National Swimming & Diving Championships in Columbus, Ga.

Andrea Adam made her return to the pool a successful one as she became a seven-time National Champion. She became a four-time national champ in the women's 3-meter diving competition with her finals score of 226.35 more than 20 points better than the second-place competitor. She also nearly won her fourth 1-meter crown, but settled for second place with a finals score of 214.65. She won multiple championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020, before the 2021 Championships were canceled.

Her seven national titles are the most by any St. Ambrose student-athlete. And she ends her SAU career as an eight-time All-American, becoming the swimming & diving program's most-decorated athlete.

Leyre Antonanzas became the SAU women's first swimming All-American. And she did it twice. The freshman from Pamplona, Spain, took eighth in both the 200- and 400-yard individual medleys. Her time in the 200 was 2:07.47 and she touched the wall in the 400 in 4:36.13.

Antonanzas also helped three Bee relays score on the women's side. Lauren Williams, Antonanzas, Molly Duehr and Emily Hartman were 11th in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:58.49); Antonanzas, Duehr, Bethany Anderson and Williams were 13th in the 400-yard medley relay (4:02.07); and Williams, Duehr, Antonanzas and Marin Powell finished 15th in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:39.94).

The St. Ambrose women placed 14th overall with 83 points.

The SAU men took seventh with 181 points with seven total All-American efforts.

Juan Gomez earned the honor in a pair of individual events. He placed sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:03.55. He later took eighth in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:57.17. Gomez joins Kevin Krupitzer as one of two SAU men to earn All-American honors twice. Nathan Kuszynski was a four-time All-American for the Bees.

Mikhi Hassim made the podium after finishing seventh in the 100-yard butterfly. His finals time was 49.81 seconds.

Four men's relays placed among the top eight, led by Ryan Warrick, Rais Hassim, Zac Robinson and Victor Del Rio Foces's fourth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:04.02. Ryan Joehl, Petter Kolaas, Mikhi Hassim and Robinson took sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:33.08); Gomez, Leo Edwards, Joehl and Grant Nelson were seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:55.32); and Brett Jones, Robinson, Warrick and Caleb Heiar ended seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.19).

Gomez scored in a third individual event when he took 12th in the 500-yard freestyle finals with a time of 4:38.92. Joehl earned points in two events. He was 10th in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.34 and placed 15th in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.31. Mikhi Hassim (11th in 51.66 seconds) and Del Rio Foces (16th in 52.56) both scored in the 100-yard backstroke. Rais Hassim was 15th in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.83 seconds.

Joehl, Gabe Carlson, Mikhi Hassim and Rais Hassim also added a ninth-place effort in the 400-yard medley relay. Their time was 3:27.38.
