Scott County has been identified as one of the Iowa counties eligible for federal aid under a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance due to August storms that struck the region.
Local government, nonprofits and nongovernmental agencies in Scott County can access the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance Program for the repair or replacement of public infrastructure and debris removal under the program, according to reporting by Our Quad Cities.
In addition to federal aid for responding to the current emergency situation, FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program also makes funds available to Scott County for preparing for and mitigating against future problems.
Federal assistance for small businesses and individuals is still under request, but those wishing to add to the request for individual and small business aid under both the Federal Individual Assistance program for residents and the Small Business Administration Disaster Loan program for residents and businesses can reach out to Community Action of Eastern Iowa at 563-324-3236.
