City of Bettendorf issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.
If you are a Bettendorf resident, 18 years or older, you can sign up for the 2020 Spring Bettendorf 101: City Citizen Academy. The academy begins Thursday, April 2 through Thursday, May 14. It is a free informative and interactive program that is designed to give Bettendorf residents an in-depth look at how their City operates.
The academy is a seven week program. Each session will last approximately three hours, 6:00-9:00 p.m. Classes will be held on Thursday nights, except for two scheduled bus tours. We would like the participants to attend every session but understand this is not always possible. We do ask that participants not miss more than two sessions.
As mentioned above, there are two bus tours. One bus tour is scheduled on a Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. During the Saturday bus tour you will learn about the Parks and Recreation Department. The other bus tour is scheduled on a Friday, 7:15 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. During the Friday bus tour you will tour the waste water plant, compost facility, landfill, recycling center, Iowa American Water Company and the Scott Emergency Communication Center. A class schedule will be available closer to the start of the spring academy.
To sign up for the 2020 Spring Bettendorf 101: City Citizen Academy, email your name, address, email address, and phone number to lhaldeman@bettendorf.org or call 563-344-4033.
We look forward to hearing from you!
