City of Davenport issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.
City Council approved an agreement recently with Viking River Cruises to dock at River Heritage Park, starting in 2022 when the company begins operations on the Mississippi River.
The Council approved the agreement making Davenport a port of call at its meeting on Dec. 4. The Riverfront Improvement Commission approved the agreement at its Nov. 26 meeting. The 20-year agreement provides for $1 per traveling passenger as well as a contribution of up to $25,000 for agreed upon site enhancements. The agreement includes two 10- year extensions.
Viking River Cruises plans to use a section of the river wall at River Heritage Park to on and off-board its passengers. The river wall along River Heritage Park has adequate capacity and is envisioned to be able to provide portage for a number of vessels.
For agreements with the Riverfront Improvement Commission longer than three years, the City Council must approve the agreement concurrently.
