U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who represents Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, has posted a series of statements on social media regarding the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on Iowans.

On October 16, 2025, Miller-Meeks described a recent conversation with Adjutant General Stephen Osborne about the effects of the shutdown on the Iowa National Guard. She wrote, "It was great talking to Adjutant General Stephen Osborne about how the Iowa National Guard is doing amidst the shutdown.
