U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who serves Iowa’s 1st district, posted a series of statements on October 9, 2025, addressing international developments and domestic policy issues.

In her first post, Miller-Meeks commented on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, stating on October 9, 2025: "Israel and Hamas have agreed to Phase 1 of President Trump’s peace plan, and ALL remaining hostages are set to be released this weekend. Thank you @POTUS for doing what many thought was impossible and bringing us near an end to this war."

Later the same day, Miller-Meeks addressed the ongoing government shutdown in Washington. On October 9, 2025 she wrote: "Day 9 of the Democrat Government Shutdown. I’m proud to cosponsor the Pay Our Troops Act to make sure those defending our nation aren’t punished by the Democrats cowardly shutdown. Their service is non-negotiable, and so is their pay."

She followed up with another post concerning military families: "Thousands of military families are living paycheck to paycheck. They shouldn’t have to worry about missing pay because the Democrats decided to shutdown the government until they get taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants." (October 9, 2025).

Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa's 1st congressional district since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. She previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021 and holds a nursing degree from Texas Christian University. Born in Herlong, California in 1955, Miller-Meeks currently resides in Le Claire.
