U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who serves Iowa’s 1st district, addressed issues of healthcare access and government funding in a series of tweets on October 8, 2025.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Miller-Meeks wrote: "Every woman deserves a fighting chance. Later that day, she thanked President Biden for actions related to federal nutrition assistance programs during an ongoing government shutdown. "Thank you, @POTUS, for protecting WIC and the millions of families who rely on it during the Democrat Shutdown. It’s good to have leadership that puts American families first, not taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants.

Miller-Meeks also criticized congressional Democrats’ approach to budget negotiations: "Dems have now voted SIX times to keep the government shut down. Six times, they’ve chosen $1.5 trillion in new spending and taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants over paychecks for our troops, and services for hardworking American families.
