Mariannette Miller-Meeks highlights rural health program funding and legislative priorities

U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., who represents Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of updates on September 23, 2025, regarding her legislative priorities and recent engagements with local constituents.

In a post at 15:05 UTC, Miller-Meeks addressed recent developments concerning federal funding for rural healthcare: "The $50 billion Rural Hospital Transformation Program is the largest investment in rural healthcare in history. But just two months after @POTUS signed it into law, Democrats are already trying to gut it. I proudly voted to pass this historic fund and will fight to protect this" (September 23, 2025).

Later that day, she thanked local community members for their hospitality during a visit: "Thank you to the Keosauqua Rotary for the warm welcome today. I shared an update on the appropriations process and my commitment to keeping the government open and responsibly funded. We also discussed preventing Medicaid from going to illegal immigrants, the Farm Bill, and the" (September 23, 2025).

In another post at 20:49 UTC, Miller-Meeks reflected on discussions with healthcare professionals about improvements in medical care due to federal support: "I appreciated the chance to meet with Van Buren County Hospital staff and hear how the Community Project Funding I secured for medical equipment is improving care. We also discussed my Medicaid Program Improvement Act and the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program, both" (September 23, 2025).

Miller-Meeks has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. She previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 until her election to Congress. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently residing in Le Claire, she earned a BSN from Texas Christian University in 1976.
