U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who serves Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, recently shared updates on her official Twitter account regarding her activities and legislative priorities.
On September 18, 2025, Miller-Meeks highlighted a visit to an energy technology exposition in Davenport, stating: "Stopped by Eaton’s grid exposition to see the cutting-edge technologies that are modernizing America’s energy grid. In Davenport, Eaton also operates a world-class defense manufacturing facility, helping keep our nation strong, secure, and ready for the future."
Later that day, she marked a significant military anniversary with a congratulatory message: "Happy 78th Birthday to the United States Air Force! For generations, the Air Force has protected our skies, advanced American strength, and stood ready to defend freedom at home and abroad. " (September 18, 2025).
In another post on September 18, 2025, Miller-Meeks addressed public health concerns related to cancer detection: "Far too many lives are lost because cancer isn’t caught early enough. Early detection saves lives, which is why I’m proud to cosponsor H.R. 842, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, to expand access to screenings and give more Americans".
Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa's 1st district since 2021 after succeeding Dave Loebsack. Before joining Congress, she served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently residing in Le Claire at age 67, Miller-Meeks holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University (1976).
