Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 1st district, marked Constitution Day and highlighted her recent meetings with local organizations in a series of posts on September 17, 2025.

In her first post of the day, Miller-Meeks reflected on the anniversary of the U.S. Constitution, stating: "238 years ago, our Founders gave us the Constitution, the greatest governing document in history. I swore an oath to defend it during my 24 years in the Army, and I swore it again in Congress to fight for Iowa. That oath never expires, and I will always defend the freedoms it" (September 17, 2025).

Later that afternoon, she described a meeting with a local housing association: "It was nice meeting with the Greater Iowa Apartment Association to talk about the future of housing in Iowa. From affordable rents to safe, quality communities, I’ll keep working to ensure Iowans have access to the housing options they deserve." (September 17, 2025).

Miller-Meeks also posted about discussions with another state organization focused on business policy: "It was wonderful meeting with the Iowa Association of Business and Industry to discuss the pro-business provisions in the Working Families Tax Cut, such as the permanent 20% deduction for small businesses, 100% bonus depreciation, and immediate expensing for R&D." (September 17, 2025).

Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa’s 1st congressional district since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and now residing in Le Claire at age 67, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University.
