U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who represents Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, shared updates on her recent activities in Iowa through a series of posts on August 18 and 19, 2025.

On August 18, Miller-Meeks posted about a visit to Sun Down Bar and Grill in Iowa County, highlighting her support for tax policy changes affecting service workers. She wrote, "Made a pit stop in Iowa County for lunch at Sun Down Bar and Grill. I got to celebrate No Tax on Tips with our wonderful server, she’s thrilled about this provision and excited to keep more of what she earns!" (August 18, 2025).

Later that day, Miller-Meeks continued her "Made in America Manufacturing Tour" with a stop at SSAB in Muscatine. In her post she stated, "Stop 3 of my Made in America Manufacturing Tour: SSAB in Muscatine! SSAB produces some of the world’s best steel, powering our energy, defense, construction, and transportation sectors. With nearly 500 workers, they’re not only one of Iowa’s largest recyclers, but also a hub of" (August 18, 2025).

On August 19, Miller-Meeks concluded her tour by leading a town hall meeting focused on manufacturing issues. She wrote: "To wrap up my Made in America Manufacturing Tour, I led a manufacturing town hall in Muscatine County with over 60 hardworking manufacturing laborers. I answered questions on tax-free overtime, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, increasing workforce and trade. We also had a" (August 19, 2025).

Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa's 1st District since replacing Dave Loebsack in Congress in 2021 and previously served as an Iowa state senator from 2019 to 2021. She was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. Her educational background includes graduating from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
