Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who represents Iowa’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent activities and legislative priorities through a series of posts on August 14, 2025.
In a post from August 14, Miller-Meeks wrote: "Stopped by the Iowa FFA booth at the Iowa State Fair, always great to see the next generation of agriculture leaders in action! https://t.co/bst44J1veB".
Later that day, she highlighted a visit from a federal official: "Honored to have @SecretaryWright in Iowa, highlighting the energy provisions in @POTUS’s One Big Beautiful Bill and visiting our National Lab. He’s the third cabinet secretary to visit our state this week, showing just how crucial Iowa is to feeding and fueling the country! https://t.co/B4WQXZiitG" (August 14).
On the same date, Miller-Meeks marked an important milestone for Social Security: "Today we celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security. In Congress, I’m fighting so Iowa seniors can keep more of what they’ve earned, and paid into. That’s why I voted for @POTUS's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which effectively will END taxes on social security by creating".
Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa’s 1st district since 2021 after succeeding Dave Loebsack. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently residing in Le Claire, Miller-Meeks holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University.
