Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 1st district and a 24-year Army veteran, recently shared her views on military recruitment and her participation in state events through a series of posts on social media.
On August 12, 2025, Miller-Meeks highlighted the increase in women enlisting in the military under the current administration: "As a 24-year Army veteran, I’m proud to see women enlisting in record numbers under @POTUS and @SecDef. This is a stark contrast to the last administration, which couldn’t get anyone to enlist, let alone women."
Later that evening, she attended a local event with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. In her post from August 13, she wrote: "Enjoying an incredible night at the best State Fair in the country, talking about the One Big Beautiful Bill with my friend, Majority Leader @SteveScalise! "
On August 13, Miller-Meeks also appeared on national television to discuss military matters. She stated: "Had a great time on @foxandfriends this morning! Thanks to @POTUS’s strong leadership, our military is being rebuilt, and recruitment is surging, especially among women. "
Miller-Meeks has served as Iowa’s 1st District representative since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently residing in Le Claire, she holds a BSN from Texas Christian University earned in 1976.
