Mariannette Miller-Meeks addresses epilepsy care advocacy and public safety concerns

U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who serves Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of updates on August 11, 2025, addressing healthcare advocacy, crime policy in Washington D.C., and support for small businesses.

In her first post at 17:56 UTC, Miller-Meeks wrote, "Great meeting with Epilepsy Foundation advocates who are living with epilepsy and working tirelessly to improve care. Later that day at 18:20 UTC, she commented on public safety concerns in the nation’s capital: "Under Democrat “soft on crime” policies, Washington, D.C. has become a safe haven for criminals instead of a symbol of American pride. Mariannette Miller-Meeks began serving as U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 1st district in 2021 after succeeding Dave Loebsack ([source](https://www.congress.gov/member/mariannette-miller-meeks/M001225)). She previously held office in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955, Miller-Meeks currently resides in Le Claire. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University in 1976.
