U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., who represents Iowa’s 1st district in Congress, recently highlighted local innovation and legislative efforts in a series of posts on social media.

On August 8, 2025, Miller-Meeks visited Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) in Coralville and shared her support for the company’s research: "Great visiting Integrated DNA Technologies in Coralville, a global leader in genomics solutions and innovation. Part of the Danaher Corporation, IDT is leading breakthroughs in gene therapy and rare disease research. Proud to support their vital work."

The following day, she promoted new legislative measures designed to provide financial benefits across different life stages. In a post dated August 9, 2025, Miller-Meeks stated: "The One Big Beautiful Bill will benefit your family no matter what phase of life you are in:

$1,000 Trump Accounts for Newborns

$2,200 Child Tax Credit

$6,000 Bonus Deductions for Seniors"

Later that same day, she addressed concerns about inheritance taxes impacting Iowa’s agricultural families: "Family farms shouldn’t be auctioned off to pay the IRS. The One Big Beautiful Bill raises the estate tax exemption to protect generational farms and small businesses, so Iowans can pass down what they’ve built to their children and grandchildren."

Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa's 1st District since replacing Dave Loebsack in Congress in 2021. She previously served as an Iowa state senator from 2019 to 2021 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University (1976). Born in Herlong, California in 1955, Miller-Meeks currently resides in Le Claire.
