Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, recently posted several updates on social media addressing healthcare funding, military service recognition, and immigration policy.
On August 6, 2025, Miller-Meeks announced her engagement with local health leaders in Iowa: "Today, I convened Iowa HHS Director Kelly Garcia and hospital CEOs from the western counties in southeast Iowa to discuss how to best utilize the first-of-its-kind $50 billion Rural Hospital Transformation Fund to support hospitals in Iowa and across the country."
The following day, she commemorated Purple Heart Day by honoring military personnel: "Today, on Purple Heart Day, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to freedom will never be forgotten. " (August 7, 2025).
On August 8, 2025, Miller-Meeks commented on border security measures: "For the 3rd straight month, ZERO illegal aliens have been released into the U.S. Under Biden, over 300,000 illegal aliens entered in a single month. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, those days are over!"
Miller-Meeks has served as a member of Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously held office in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and now residing in Le Claire, she earned her BSN from Texas Christian University in 1976.
