U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who has represented Iowa’s 1st district in Congress since 2021, recently shared updates on social media highlighting her engagement with local events and policy initiatives.
On August 3, Miller-Meeks posted about attending a major motorsport event in Newton, Iowa: "The checkered flag has waved on an incredible @NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 at the Iowa Speedway! It was great to be in Newton supporting an event where the cars are powered with blended ethanol and that showcases our state on the national stage and drives major investment into our" (August 3, 2025).
The following day, she extended birthday wishes to Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds: "Please join me in wishing @IAGovernor Reynolds a very happy birthday! Thank you for all you do for our state. " (August 4, 2025).
Later on August 4, Miller-Meeks expressed support for federal policy measures aimed at families and seniors: "Raising kids isn’t easy, or cheap. Neither is retiring on a fixed income. That’s why I proudly supported @POTUS’s One Big Beautiful Bill:
$1,000 Trump investment accounts for every newborn
$2,200 Child Tax Credit
$6,000 tax deduction for seniors" (August 4, 2025).
Miller-Meeks began serving in Congress after replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. She was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. Before entering politics, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University in 1976.
