Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, shared several updates on legislative achievements and local developments via her Twitter account on July 30, 2025.
In one post, Miller-Meeks highlighted tax relief for seniors: "The One Big Beautiful Bill protects seniors on fixed incomes by delivering a $6,000 tax deduction per person 65+. Married couples can now save up to $12,000 from federal taxes. Proud to have helped deliver this relief for Iowa seniors!" (July 30, 2025).
She also discussed new savings opportunities for families through a recent bill: "$1,000 at birth + $5,000 a year by parents = nearly $2 million for your child by age 28. That’s the power of President Trump’s newborn savings accounts from the One Big Beautiful Bill. Democrats opposed it. Families will benefit for generations." (July 30, 2025).
On the same day, Miller-Meeks announced an economic development project in Jasper County: "Exciting day in Jasper County announcing the 367-acre Newton Rail Park! This once-in-a-generation public-private partnership project will attract new businesses, strengthen manufacturing & agriculture, and create thousands of jobs. Proud to support local leaders & help ensure its" (July 30, 2025).
Miller-Meeks has represented Iowa's 1st District in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. She was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. Miller-Meeks earned her BSN from Texas Christian University in 1976.
