Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, recently shared updates on energy policy and local community events through her Twitter account.
On July 26, Miller-Meeks highlighted legislative efforts to bolster U.S. energy independence: "The One Big Beautiful Bill makes America energy independent and energy dominant once again. Lower prices. More jobs. Less red tape. Read more in my joint op-ed with @RepLisaMcClain in the @gazettedotcom https://t.co/lImmGdnrbl".
A day later, she posted about a significant milestone celebrated at Joseph’s Church in DeWitt: "At the conclusion of service at Joseph’s Church in DeWitt, the priest wished a Happy Anniversary to Jim and Maretta (sp). A granddaddy 75th wedding anniversary! Amazing! Best wishes for more wonderful years." This tweet was published on July 27.
Later that same day, Miller-Meeks commented on local fuel prices while referencing federal leadership: "Gas prices remain low thanks to @POTUS! $2.57 in Mt. Pleasant today, without even draining the strategic petroleum reserve."
Miller-Meeks has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 and previously held office in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. She was born in Herlong, California, in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. Miller-Meeks earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University in 1976.
