Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 1st district, has used her social media platform to highlight legislative initiatives and personal stories connected to her constituents.
On July 23, 2025, Miller-Meeks announced new legislation in honor of a local leader: "I’m proud to be introducing legislation to name the Fort Madison Post Office in honor of the late Martin Graber, a family man, veteran, public servant, and beloved leader in Southeast Iowa who we all miss dearly."
The following day, on July 24, 2025, she commented on agricultural policy and California's Proposition 12: "Progressive activists in California shouldn’t be dictating how Iowa pork producers raise their livestock. Prop 12 is a direct attack on our farmers and every American who enjoys safe, affordable, high-quality pork. Proud to back the Save Our Bacon Act."
Later that same day, Miller-Meeks shared an inspirational story about a young child from Iowa: "Born at just 21 weeks, Baby Nash defied every odd to survive. His strength, and the courage of his family, captured the heart of Iowa and the nation. I spoke about Nash on the House floor last year, and I’m still inspired by his incredible journey."
Miller-Meeks has served as U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 1st District since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. She previously held office in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021 and was born in Herlong, California in 1955 before moving to Le Claire. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University.
