Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district, has been vocal about her support for the legislative proposal known as "The One Big Beautiful Bill." In a series of tweets, she outlined the bill's potential impacts on taxation and manufacturing.
On July 7, 2025, Miller-Meeks tweeted that "Iowans work hard. They deserve a government that works for them. The One Big Beautiful Bill prevents the largest tax hike in history and ensures our tax code rewards work, not punishes it." This statement underscores her commitment to protecting taxpayers from significant financial burdens.
The following day, on July 8, 2025, she further elaborated on the bill's economic implications by stating that "The One Big Beautiful Bill will bring manufacturing back home from China by incentivizing Made in America ". This highlights an effort to revitalize domestic manufacturing through strategic incentives.
Later that day, Miller-Meeks added another dimension to her advocacy by emphasizing small business protection. She noted that "The One Big Beautiful Bill makes the Section 199A small business deduction permanent, protecting Main Street from a devastating 20% tax hike. Over 25 million small businesses rely on this relief to grow and thrive." Her personal connection to this issue is evident as she shared her experience as a former small business owner.
Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. Prior to her current role, she was a member of the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and residing in Le Claire, Iowa, Miller-Meeks holds a BSN from Texas Christian University.
