Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st district, shared her thoughts and legislative updates through a series of tweets in early July 2025.

On July 6, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed her condolences regarding the recent floods in Texas. She stated, "My prayers are with every family affected by the devastating floods in Texas. I’m heartbroken by the loss of life and the children still missing. May God protect the first responders and bring comfort to every grieving heart."

The following day, on July 7, she announced that "The One Big Beautiful Bill" had become law. In her tweet at 13:13 UTC, she outlined several key features of this legislation: " Blocks the largest tax hike in history Secures the border Unleashes energy dominance Increases the child tax credit $6,000 tax break for seniors Cuts taxes on tips and overtime Brings manufacturing home".

Later that same day at 15:47 UTC, Rep. Miller-Meeks reiterated some benefits of "The One Big Beautiful Bill," emphasizing its impact on taxpayers: "The One Big Beautiful Bill increases the Child Tax Credit, delivers a $6,000 tax break for seniors, and permanently locks in lower tax rates for families. It’s real relief that puts taxpayers first, and it’s now been signed into law by @POTUS!"

Mariannette Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 after previously serving in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021.
