Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district, shared her thoughts on legislative priorities through a series of tweets on July 3, 2025. The congresswoman, who has been in office since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021, emphasized the importance of domestic manufacturing and tax policies.

In a tweet posted at 7:58 AM, Rep. Miller-Meeks stated, "If we want to compete with China, we need to build in America. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is our blueprint to compete and win!" This highlights her focus on enhancing American competitiveness through local production.

Later that morning at 10:18 AM, she elaborated on the bill's provisions: "The One Big Beautiful Bill Act makes the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and puts working families first. We’re not raising taxes on Iowa farmers and small businesses, we’re cutting them." Her statement underscores a commitment to maintaining lower taxes for key demographics within her constituency.

By 12:22 PM, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed optimism about the bill's passage stating, "It’s One Big Beautiful morning in DC! We are ready to pass this bill as soon as the Democrats are done with their little play." This comment suggests an eagerness for legislative action once partisan discussions conclude.

Mariannette Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University obtained in 1976.
