Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly completed Road of Honor in Keokuk, Iowa. The revitalized stretch of South 18th Street provides direct access to the Keokuk National Cemetery. This project was realized through $960,000 in federal funding secured by Congresswoman Miller-Meeks after extensive community advocacy.
"As a 24-year Army veteran, I was proud to secure the Community Project Funding that brought this vision to life," said Miller-Meeks. "The new Road of Honor ensures that every family can reach Keokuk National Cemetery safely and with dignity, to honor the heroes laid to rest there. I’m grateful to the City of Keokuk, our veterans’ organizations, and all the local partners who helped make this lasting tribute a reality."
The congresswoman joined local officials and veteran leaders at the ceremony, marking the completion of a project initiated by community vision and supported through federal partnership.
In 2022, Rep. Miller-Meeks secured $960,000 in federal funding for the Road of Honor through Community Project Funding in the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations Bill. She attended the groundbreaking ceremony for this project in April 2024, where she was acknowledged as a "driving force" behind its progress.
