Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) conducted her second telephone town hall of the 119th Congress, engaging with over 6,300 Iowans. She discussed her work in Washington aimed at protecting families, reducing costs, and defending American values.

“I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from Iowans, answer their questions, and provide updates on the issues that matter most,” said Miller-Meeks. “From securing our border and lowering drug costs to protecting Social Security/Medicaid and bringing manufacturing back to America, Iowans know I’m in Congress to fight for them—and last night’s conversation reaffirmed just how engaged and passionate they are about the direction of our country.”

Miller-Meeks highlighted achievements facilitated by Republican Congress members and President Trump’s return to the presidency, noting several key accomplishments. Among them was a recorded 95% reduction in illegal border crossings since Trump's resumed office, which she cited as evidence of effective leadership and enforcement.

Additionally, she mentioned the passage of the SAVE Act, which mandates proof of citizenship for voter registration, protecting the election's integrity. She supported the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, attending a White House ceremony with President Trump in recognition of its passage.

The House has passed her Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act, aimed at strengthening U.S. supply chains by expanding manufacturing into rural areas, such as southeast Iowa. She continues her efforts to extend the Trump-era Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to shield families, small businesses, and family farms from potential tax increases.

A poll during the call disclosed that 72% of participants feel the border is more secure under President Trump compared to President Biden.

Regarding increasing drug prices, Miller-Meeks discussed her bipartisan legislation, the DRUG Act, targeting Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to reduce prescription costs. She commended a recent executive order from Trump to enhance transparency in drug pricing.
