WASHINGTON DC -- Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) recently expressed her support for securing the southern border and advancing U.S. national security interests in a statement following her votes on various bills related to these issues.

In her statement, Miller-Meeks emphasized the importance of border security and its direct link to national security, stating, “Today, I voted in favor of border security and U.S. national security by supporting our allies Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine as they continue countering malevolent, anti-American forces.” She urged the Senate and President Biden to take immediate action to pass legislation to secure the southern border and prevent illegal immigration and other threats.

Miller-Meeks highlighted the significance of supporting allies such as Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine in countering adversarial forces, stating, “We not only assisted our allies in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to protect and defend themselves, we also protected America and upheld American values of democracy, freedom, and human rights that define us as a nation.”

The congresswoman's votes were in alignment with various bills aimed at enhancing national security and addressing global threats. These bills include the End the Border Catastrophe Act, which focuses on securing the border and deploying technology to prevent illegal immigration. Additionally, Miller-Meeks supported the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, and the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act to bolster the defense capabilities of key allies and counter regional threats.

Furthermore, Miller-Meeks backed the 21st Century Peace Through Strength Act, which aims to protect Americans from threats posed by entities like the Chinese Communist Party-controlled TikTok and address the fentanyl crisis that has impacted the nation.
