WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 1, U.S. Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) and Brandon Williams (NY-22) introduced a resolution disapproving of the use of public elementary and secondary school facilities to house illegal aliens as a result of the Biden administration’s failed, open-border policies. The resolution asserts that the reallocation of taxpayer-funded facilities takes away critical resources for student achievement, impedes the learning process, and poses a significant safety risk on school campuses. Full text of the bill may be found here.
“School resources should be used for educating our children, not covering for President Biden’s failed border policies,” said Miller-Meeks. “I am proud to lead this resolution. It is important that we keep our youth safe and ensure that only authorized individuals such as students, faculty, staff, and parents have access to school facilities. I once again urge President Biden to enforce our immigration laws and put an end to the lawlessness at our southern border.”
“Parents across New York spend years saving for their child’s college education in our SUNY system. Now, with the stroke of a pen, Governor Hochul and her Progressive allies in NYC are exporting the migrant crisis into our children’s SUNY dorms & student housing,” said Williams. “These undocumented migrants are unvetted and unverified, and they have no place being co-located with our kids. Take your Progressive immigration crisis elsewhere, Madame Governor! I am proud to join in this resolution with Congresswoman Miller-Meeks.”
