Winter 2022-2023: What You Need To Know | City of Bettendorf

It’s a new season and the City of Bettendorf wants to make sure you’re ready for it – whether it’s helping you fill your calendar with some fun events or prepare you for snow, snow, and more snow.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR’S CITY SCHEDULE

With the holidays upon us, that means some changes when it comes to when your garbage is picked up, how much garbage you can put out, and what time certain amenities around our City are open. For the full schedule, click here.

FIREWORKS ORDINANCE

As you celebrate the past year and ring in the year ahead, keep in mind that you can only shoot off fireworks on December 31st from 10pm until 12:30am. The use of fireworks outside of that window could land you with a fine. Click here to view our Fireworks Ordinance or contact the Bettendorf Police Department about offenders.

CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL

Once you’re done admiring your Christmas tree and opening all the gifts underneath it, you can dispose of it and Public Works Crews will pick it up. Live Christmas tree collection is from December 27th through January 7th on your collection day. No sticker is required, but you must remove all ornaments, plastic wrap, and tree stands. Any artificial Christmas tree you would like to dispose of can be placed out for collection on you scheduled bulky waste day.

SPECIAL YARD WASTE PICK-UP

If you still have some cleaning up to do outside, Public Works Crews will pick up your bagged and stickered yard waste on Fridays. All you have to do is call 563-344-4088. You can also drop off your yard waste at the Davenport Compost Facility. For more information and tips for bagging yard waste, click here.

SNOW REMOVAL POLICY

Whether you like it or not, snow will fall all over our City and we want you to know what to expect as well as what you’re responsible for as a homeowner.

The City of Bettendorf’s standard for snow/ice control is to achieve bare pavement on public streets within 24 hours following the cessation of snowfall from an average storm of 4” to 6”. To see how areas are prioritized, click here.

You can have peace of mind that Public Works Crews are trained and ready for wintry weather! To see the friendly competition that takes place, click here.

There are also several things you should keep in mind when there’s a snow event to avoid getting a citation. Make sure you are aware of these rules.
