Winter officially begins at 3:48pm on December 21, 2022 and to celebrate, the City of Bettendorf - a #WellmarkHealthyHometown - is providing you with a Winter Bucket List to encourage you to EAT WELL - MOVE MORE - and FEEL BETTER!
What is a #WellmarkHealthyHometown?
Wellmark and the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative - a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization - are working to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation and enhance the well-being of Iowa residents, including right here in our city! You may be familiar with our "Walk in the Park" which takes place every October in Middle Park or #BettTrailsTuesday, where we focus on different trails throughout our city every week. Healthy Hometown has three paths communities can follow to make improvements and motivate those who live in their communities:
EAT WELL
Winter = New Year and EAT WELL is a resolution for many. Here's some helpful articles to kickstart your Winter Bucket List:
MOVE MOREMOVE MORE may seem hard to do in these cold, snowy months, but our Winter Bucket List has some ideas:
- Check Out Our Trails Every #BettTrailsTuesday: You can find our weekly videos on the Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Facebook Page by clicking here.
- Enjoy Cross-Country Skiing or Sledding at Palmer Hills Golf Course: You can rent skis at Palmer Grill from 10am-3pm, but conditions need to be ideal. For more information, click here.
- Go Skating at the Frozen Landing Family Ice Rink: It's open seven days a week and there are extended hours during Winter Break!
No one wants Cabin Fever and that's why our Winter Bucket List features some fun ways to FEEL BETTER:
- Challenge Your Brain at the Bettendorf Public Library: Sign up for a Library Card and start learning new things.
- Discover Your Inner Child at the Family Museum: There are so many things to explore with the kids in your life!
- Help a Neighbor In Need: We can expect some snow over the next three months (or more), so lend a helping hand by making sure your neighborhood is following all the rules.
