2nd Street Resurfacing Project

E 2nd St resurfacing work is coming right along. Asphalt was applied to the eastbound lanes earlier in the week. Finish work such as sidewalk intersections and utility points is expected to continue in the eastbound lanes through the end of August. Once complete work will flip to the westbound lanes. Look for updates next week.

07/12/22 | Davenport is bringing more highly-anticipated improvements to another major thoroughfare beginning August 1 with resurfacing of 2nd St between Harrison St and the Government Bridge. Planned work should be complete by early-to-mid-October 2022.

Work will begin in the eastbound lanes and then transition to the westbound lanes in early September. Travel will be maintained in the lane opposite the work zone. For example, westbound travel will be allowed when work is performed in the eastbound lanes and vice versa when work transitions to the westbound lanes.

Parking and turning traffic will also be impacted.

  • Right-hand turns will be permitted.  Left-hand turns will only be allowed at Harrison and Brady as applicable to travel. *In the initial phase Iowa bound travel will not be permitting turning onto 2nd St.
  • Parking will not be permitted on the side where active construction is taking place.
Access to the Government Bridge will be maintained via LeClaire St during the first phase of the project.  During the second phase of the project, Iowa-bound bridge traffic should use LeClaire St to 3rd or 4th St.

Impacted residents, property owners, property managers, and the public are invited to learn more about the project and ask questions on Thursday, July 21 at 9:00 a.m. during a virtual session. The meeting will be recorded. Those unable to attend will be able to find a recording of the session on the website the day after the virtual meeting.
