Gadbury named Offensive Line Coach for Fighting Bees

Football

St. Ambrose University Athletics issued the following announcement on July 21.

Zach Gadbury has been named the Offensive Line Coach for the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees football team. He replaces Brody Pogue on the coaching staff, who will be taking over as Offensive Coordinator at Illinois College, his alma mater.

Gadbury joined the coaching staff last season as a graduate assistant, coaching the offensive line for the Fighting Bees during the 2020 season.

A standout on the offensive line, Gadbury started all 39 games for the Fighting Bees from 2016-19. As a Bee, Gadbury was a four-time all-conference selection and three-time team captain, not missing a single start over his four-year career.

"We are super excited to move Zach up to full-time," said St. Ambrose head football coach Mike Magistrelli. "After just one year of seeing him improve as a graduate assistant, I know that he will be a better coach than he was a player, and that's really saying something."

Originally from Tolono, Ill., Gadbury attended Unity High School before earning his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from St. Ambrose. He is currently pursuing a master's in Organizational Leadership.

"I'm super excited for the chance to learn and take the next step in my career and I can't thank Coach Magistrelli enough for the opportunity," said Gadbury. "This University and program mean so much to me and being able to work with such a great staff and group of athletes is a blessing. I don't think I've been more excited for the Fall to get here than I am now. Time to get to work... Roll Bees!"
