While candidates running for a Scott County Iowa House seat have similar priorities, they said the way in which they get to those goals is different from one another.
"Some of my priorities that I think are in line with my district are increased funding for education, balancing budgets, living within our means, not raising taxes," Republican incumbent Gary Mohr told Quad City Times.
Democrat Marie Gleason said she believes school funding increases in the past haven't been enough for schools.
"And that is affecting the quality," Gleason told quad City Times. "We need to make sure our priorities are taken care of first. And education has not been at the top of the priorities."
Gleason also said she believes "state leaders have dropped the ball" when it comes to controlling the spread of COVID-19.
"We have to do our best to get the coronavirus under control to the biggest extent that we can," Gleason told Quad City Times.
She also supports law enforcement and if elected will not be voting for a bill to cut police funding.
"I support law enforcement and do not support defunding the police," Gleason told Quad City Times.
