A disaster proclamation was issued for 20 Iowa counties, including Scott County, after last Monday's storms damaged farmlands, housing and food supplies.
Gov. Kim Reynolds issued the disaster proclamation, which will let the government use state resources to help recover from the damage left, KWQC reported.
A grant assistance program through the Scott County Emergency Management Agency will help those who qualify for a grant receive much needed help. Residents in the other 19 counties are also eligible to apply for a grant through the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program.
Households can receive a grant up to $5,000. To be eligible, households need to have a maximum annual income of $43,440 for a family of three or be at or below the 200% federal poverty level.
Grants from the program can be used on temporary housing, clothes and food replacements, car repairs and home repairs, KWQC reported. If a household wants to be reimbursed for storm-related expenses, they will need to provide a receipt.
More information on applying for a grant can be found by calling the Community Action of Eastern Iowa at 563-324-3236 or by visiting here.
