The coronavirus is now widely spreading throughout communities in eastern Iowa.
"Iowa is categorized as widespread,” Clinton County Community Health Manager Michele Cullen told the Clinton Herald. “So Clinton County would be considered widespread. If you go onto the map for the Iowa Department of Public Health, and you look at eastern Iowa compared to western Iowa, eastern Iowa definitely has widespread at this point.”
Gov. Kim Reynolds is urging Iowans to stay home to prevent any further spread of COVID-19.
“The best way to avoid being exposed to the virus or exposing others is to stay home as much as possible,” she said. “Leave home only for essential purposes like getting groceries and necessary supplies or medical needs. Work from home, if you can.”
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, there have been more than 1,200 coronavirus cases and 29 deaths due to the virus. Clinton County has had 21 confirmed cases but no deaths.
