Outdoor adventure is calling. You can see, hear and feel its beauty with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ exciting new course, "Wilderness Experience to the Current River.”
Participants will spend two Saturdays in September with experts from the Nahant Marsh Education Center learning survival/camping skills, river navigation, paddling strokes, how to pack for a wilderness trip and water hazards, before putting their skills to the test during an unforgettable canoe get-away on the picturesque Current River.
Pre-trip classes will take place Sept. 1 and 8; the overnight camp-out is scheduled for Sept. 20 – 26. The Current River is in the Southern part of Missouri in the Ozarks. This Ozark National Scenic Riverway features caves, towering dolomite bluffs, crystal clear water, and some of the largest natural springs in the world.
The 55-mile trip along the Current River in Missouri will begin at Baptist Camp Current River Access and end at Two Rivers. The cost of the trip covers transportation, meals while on the river, and canoe rental. Space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to register early. The cost is $375.
