Health Careers Adventure Camp on July 11-15

COST: $225 UNTIL JUNE 24; $250 AFTER JUNE 24; SCHOLARSHIP RATE FOR STUDENTS QUALIFYING FOR FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM (LIMITED NUMBER AVAILABLE- $35)

What the Health Careers Adventure Camp Offers

During this day camp participants are introduced to a variety of health professions. The camp allows the student to experience firsthand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions through hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty and practicing clinicians. Campers will be supervised by faculty and students currently enrolled in the health sciences educational programs, and will have the opportunity to explore potential healthcare related skill sets through thought provoking interdisciplinary activities.

This program is underwritten in part by the Rock Island Community Foundation and the St. Ambrose University Health Sciences Career Fair.

Daily Schedule

Students will attend activities on the campus of St. Ambrose University and visit area health care agencies and clinics. Campers can be dropped off at campus between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Activities led by health science faculty and students will be provided until camp begins at 8:30 a.m. Camp ends at 4 p.m. each day, and camper supervision will be provided until 5 p.m.

Who can attend?

The camp is open to any student entering the 7th or 8th grade during Fall 2022. 

What does it cost to participate?

Cost of the program is $225 until Friday, June 24, 2022, $250 after that date. A limited number of scholarships are available at the discounted rate of $35 for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. On-site supervision, t-shirt, team bag, daily snack and lunch, transportation to and from learning experiences and program costs are included in the program fee.

Selection is based upon the student's application. Early application is encouraged, because space is limited.
